In the BCM beginning …

BCM Stars was established in 1988 with it’s important name taken from the three founders: Bernard, Carol and Maureen. They worked hard to set the troupe up with their daughters Karen and Ruth, and a tiny team of dancers. Barbara Sheriff, one of the first dancers to join, is still part of the troupe! Her daughter Bobbie is now dancing for the Troupe.

Kerry Quinn is the longest standing dancer and has danced continuously for twenty seven years which is a great achievement. The Troupe currently has multiple generations of the same family dancing with mother and daughter combinations.

After the founders retired, Audrey, Diane and Carol took over the reigns of the troupe, who in turn passed the baton to Annie Quinn, Paula Simons, Karen Morrisey and Bev Eyles.

The group have trained hundreds of dancers from Chickenley, Dewsbury and as far away as Castleford. All proudly dance in the colours of pink, silver and black.

The Troupe dances in the Yorkshire Carnival Association (YCA) and Northern Majorette Association (NMA). We are currently Baby, Junior and Senior Military Freestyle champions in both associations and are very proud of this fantastic achievement.

Let’s not forget the Parents!

Dozens of parents turn up to support BCM Stars. This includes weekly training sessions, weekend competitions and two national competitions each year. Most importantly our family ethos means we support each other and the dancers to achieve their best and form new and lovely friendships.

The ever competitive ‘Parents Dance Competition’ is held each year. Our parents always have hours of fun creating a routine guaranteed to make the audience laugh and cry! Come join the fun – new parents are always very welcome.
